This very special instrument was made by Brad Kahabka, our own Ohana Custom Shop luthier, for his parents' recent anniversary event. Enjoy the inspirational excerpt below directly from Brad.
"I made this ukulele for my parents to celebrate their life in the Hudson Valley in New York State. About an hour north of NYC, the iconic Newburgh/Beacon Bridge connects the two towns and spans the entirety of the Hudson River. I remember using the walkway under the bridge many times as a child and seeing the vastness of the valley, the breeze of the river, and the sights and sounds of the waterfront. The train to NYC is located across the bridge, which I have taken again recently and always feel a sense of nostalgia about the bridge.
Throughout most of the year NY is filled with white tailed deer, and my parents' property was no exception. Early mornings with does and fawns running around the yard, eating the flowers -- they become an iconic symbol of the area, which is why I chose to inlay that on the headstock."
